Forks in the road

-Our anniversary was really good. Amanda seemed to really like the bracelet and flowers I got her. Good shopping and planning me! And I really really like my watch. Honestly, I've had it one day, and already I'm wondering how I got on without one for so long. The whirling second hand and gunmetal finish are strangely hypnotic.

-We went to a restaurant called Paradiso for dinner, they served fairly upscale medi...meddita...fuck it. Food from that place above Africa. I can't spell that. Anyways, it was really good. Crab Ravioli for myself, and Gnocchi for Amanda (pasta made from potatoes, if anyone cares).

-E3 is this week, for anyone into video games. It doesn't officially start until Wednesday, but in reality, it's been going for around 24 hours. The most impressive thing I've seen so far?

This.

If you're interested in video games, computer graphics, or technology in any way, you need to go to that site and watch the movie. It's supposedly ingame graphics, and it rivals CG movies Hollywood released just a few years ago (Final Fantasy anybody?)

-Gee, if you read this, you should have asked me to go the Xbox 360 unveiling. I would have been your best friend FOR LIFE.

-Little Caesar's $5 medium pepperoni pizza is a delicious lunch alternative.

364

A lot has happened since my last post. I'll try to fill you guys in on it all in a few short paragraphs. Don't worry, these paragraphs will be so good that you won't even miss the multiple posts they would have taken up if I had admirable character traits such as promptness.

The next paragraph is sappy. Just a warning, in case anyone wants to skip ahead.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Amanda and I being an "item". Being the "it couple" of CS if you will. OK....well...Amanda was the it girlfriend of CS. I was sort of like the....it girlfriend's boyfriend. ha HA
Anyways. Tomorrow is our one year, and I can't really put into words how happy I am to say that. It seems like just yesterday that the relationship was new, and no one was really sure how long it would last. Luckily for me, it did. I love you Amanda.

OK...sappy stuff over.

Marks came back, and I'm reasonably happy with all of them. A 70% average, but considering my 56% in Combinatorics, I can't complain. I never would have guessed that my highest mark last term was going to be CS 241, but there you go.

I've been working at Castit Software for the last 3 weeks too, and it's going shockingly well. That might be because for once I'm not dealing with clueless old ladies who pour coffee on their keyboards, although I personally think it has more to do with having interesting work to do all day. I'm basically coding forms and reports that make up the user interface of a software package that my company is writing. It's been kind of exciting to see how the stuff I've been learning can be applied to coding actual software, even if it's not terribly complicated.

The bad news is that the other co-op student is a dink. He doesn't eat lunch or take breaks. He just comes in at 7:30 am, starts coding, and leaves at 3:30. I mean...they only pay him for 7 1/2 hours a day. That fucker. I thought it might be to try and look good in front of the bosses, but they might not even notice, since they're not in the office at lunchtime. My conclusion? He's an alien.

On the CD front, I bought Sublime's self-titled album yesterday for ten bucks, and it was worth every penny. Sublime has a really laid back sound that reminds me of summer, so it'll probably have a nice spot in my player for the next little while. Also, System of a Down - Mesmerize comes out on Tuesday. Oh, and I'm going to see Green Day and Jimmy Eat World at Molson Park with Amanda, Justin, Kosta, and some other people I don't know in August. I love both of those bands, and it should be a good show.

Finished Psychonauts for Xbox, it was a really great game. If you like an odd sense of humour, just go out and play this game right now. You'll love it, I *promise*.
Now I'm playing Shadow Hearts: Covenant for PS2. It's incredibly Japanese, so basically, you'll either love it or hate it. Example? One of the bosses is a giant pink cat. When the main character sees it, he says:

"That is one giant pussy."

I can't decide if it's poor translation or an actual joke, which I think makes it funnier.

Alright, I've rambled for long enough. Hopefully see some of you this weekend since it's a long one.

1 year tomorrow <3
